Courtney Farrow, the daughter of infamous pirate Duncan Farrow, has proven that she can fight, loot, sail, and swear as well as any pirate in her father's crew. When Duncan Farrow is killed in a battle against an American ship, Courtney is left with her uncle on their island to fight a different battle against the Yankees. Though determined to defend their home, the pirates are defeated and Courtney, disguised as a young boy, is captured by Lieutenant Adrian Ballantine.
Shortly after defeating the corsairs, Adrian discovers Courtney's true identity hidden beneath the dirty guise of a boy. Wanting to protect her from his sadistic Captain, as well as the hang man's noose, Ballantine decides to keep Courtney's identity a secret by having her pose as his newly appointed cabin boy. Soon after, the tables are turned when Duncan Farrow's partner rescues the captured pirates from the American vessel and Ballantine becomes Courtney's prisoner.
Though they are enemies, Courtney is drawn to the naval officer and her loyalties become torn between her newly developing feelings toward Ballantine, and her fellow pirates and father's memory.
The plot is filled with twists and turns as the hero and heroine search for traitors on both sides, and discover the truth behind Duncan Farrow's hidden wealth.
